CLUB NEWS

Nets News

Winter nets started in January on Sundays at Darton High School (14.00 U11, 15.00 Adults U17, 16.00 U13 & U15s) and will continue to the first weekend in April. Please note - use the back entrance (off Ballfield Lane).  In 2008 Darton have junior teams in the Barnsley Under 17,15, 13 (two teams) and 11 (two teams) League. New players are always welcome and Junior nets are held every at the ground, Monday at 18-00 in the summer months.  The last indoor net will be Easter Sunday.

Outdoor U11,U13 and U15 nets commence on Monday April 7th.

Outddoor Senior nets and U17 commence on Tuesday April 8th.

Josie and Rob Foster have organised a sponsored bowl out for the Junior teams on Sunday 16th March (please contact Rob or Ian for details).  All money will go towards new shirts and track suit tops for the teams.  Congratulations to John Taylor (U15 Manager) who has secured £500 sponsorship towards his team's kit.

Jobs that need doing

The following jobs need doing at the club.  Please don't be shy in volunteering for something including offers of financial support:-

Decorate club house;
Grass needs cutting;
New kitchen needs fitting;
Raise electrical sockets above the flood level;
Road chippings need moving into pot holes;
Sign needs repainting on top of scoreboard;

Cricket Force Weekend

The first weekend in April (5th and 6th) is the 2008 Cricket force weekend, when we hope to carry out several jobs ready for the coming season.  Please volunteer for the weekend!!!  If anyone can obtain free materials e.g. paint etc. please contact Ian.

We need volunteers on this weekend to carry out the following:-

Catering for the thousands that turn up, painting, wood preserving the fence etc. etc (please volunteer)????


Coaching News

Congratulations go to Andrew Burkill, Andrew Wood, Harry Moore and Mike Jepps who have just passed their ECB Level 1 Coaching Certificate.

We are hoping to give coaching in Barugh, Darton and Mapplewell Junior schools during that spring term.


First  Senior Match

The first team will play the second team on Saturday  12th April.  

Umpire News

Dave Wilson will be umpiring in the Pontefract League this season.  It will not be long before there is a statue in the center of Barnsley!!!
